Shooted already in 2011 during the Horse Race Duhner Wattrennen in Germany. The very bad wheather conditions during the race (or better during the whole day) did not allow me to get pictures with higher contrast so I took what I could get.......
Awesome! The B&W works very well here. Love the free-spirited BOING to the horse's gallop (looks like its traveling well over the surface) and the jockey looking casually and enjoyably out into the distance. Their isolation and the endless horizon add some poignancy here.
Hi! This photograph was chosen to be featured in the monthly news article by our group #Passion-for-Photos and it’ll be also moved to our “Feature” folder! Your art is awesome! Here is the link: [link] Please it to spread the love!
I was not able to use more than f4 together with 1/1000 sec due to the bad weather conditions. You would see more background if the aperture would be f11 or more (but no chance when it's raining and you have fast moving items), so it's natural blurred out.
I feel the mark of a good photographer is getting in good shots in bad conditions. You certainly did that.
Even a layman like me can get the sense of power and purpose depicted. The taught, bunched muscles on the flank and the intense expression on the faces of both rider and horse just blows me away. The photo gives a sense of speed without the normal blurring (over)used normally.
The race is during the low tide. Not on the beach - directly where normally the water is when the tide is high. So the race is starting when the water is going away and ends with the upcomming/arriving water.
